Read the codes with JB4 and came up with these: "2A7C" - No description found " - Low boost mode engaged - CEL trigerred" Pulled over to restart the car hoping that will fix the issue but no luck.
Eventually it went away after about 3 restars and I drove home without going WOT and being easy on the gas pedal and half engine light has not come back on the way home. I read about the vanos possibility but it's a slightly different code 2A Not much info on the 2A7C code at all. Anyone had same issue at all? Appreciate the input guys!
Appreciate 0. Major General. Just search that code here I had this same issue last week After searching the forums for a while I found someone else with a similar issue and there culprit was the oil. Either dirty oil or the wrong weight oil was used. I'm not sure if this could be your issue but I changed my oil and I haven't gotten any codes. I am due for an oil change as well.

I got that dreaded 'half power' error a few days ago shortly after starting the car. After that 1 incident that has started and run perfectly normal every since. I pulled my error codes this morning, and sure enough the two most recent are 2A7C and This information applies to 3, 5, and 7 series BMW models. What does this mean? It caused the motor to go into limp mode.

I had the codes pulled and it's throwing the 2A7C code: 2A7C: vanos inlet; cold start. My Indy says I need to either clean or completely replace the solenoids. He recommended getting them cleaned at the same time as my previously scheduled walnut blast to see if that will resolve the issue. What are your guy's thoughts?

Should would dirty solenoids cause intermittent limp modes? Do a search on cleaning the solenoids. It's very easy, and worth a try before replacement. I forgot to ask about mileage too, as rough idle can point to maintenance issues as well. Eccentric shaft specified 32deg and actual 28deg. Not sure if these are the right values for cam angle.
